Cyberpunk 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Port Updates
Featuring Multiple Cities
At Digital Dragons 2025, R. Talsorian Games founder and game designer Mike Pondsmith provided exciting insights into Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, Project Orion. Although Pondsmith is less involved than he was with the original game, he remains engaged with its development, reviewing scripts and offering feedback on new features like Cyberware.
Pondsmith shared that Project Orion will not only revisit Night City but also introduce a new city. He described this new setting as, "I understand the feel that you’re going for, and this really does work, it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it feels more like Chicago gone wrong. And I said, ‘yeah, I can see this working’." This new locale promises to bring a fresh atmosphere to the Cyberpunk universe.
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has also been actively recruiting for Project Orion, with a recent job listing for a Lead Encounter Designer. This role is crucial for crafting memorable gameplay experiences and aims to introduce the most realistic and reactive crowd system seen in gaming to date. These efforts indicate that Cyberpunk 2 will build on its predecessor's renowned world-building and storytelling.
New Footage for Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Port
In parallel developments, CDPR has released new footage showcasing Cyberpunk 2077's Switch 2 port, highlighting their efforts to optimize the game for Nintendo's upcoming console. Over 37 minutes of B-roll videos have been made available on CDPR's website, giving fans a glimpse of how the game will perform on the Switch 2.
Despite some initial performance issues, such as frame drops reported during showcase events in New York and Paris, CDPR Engineer Tim Green expressed satisfaction with the port's progress. He noted, "We haven’t had to fight with fitting into memory, and the speed of the data storage has helped alleviate some of those early streaming problems. This has allowed us to focus our attention on improving other things, and we’re very happy with the result."
