Author : Nova Update:May 02,2025

After years of battling Ghouls in *Fallout 76*, players now have the unique opportunity to experience life from the other side. The game introduces a new questline that lets you transform into a Ghoul, but the decision to do so isn't one to take lightly. So, should you become a Ghoul in *Fallout 76*?

How to Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76

A Ghoul in Fallout 76.

To embark on this transformation, you must be at least level 50 and accept the "Leap of Faith" questline. Once you do, head to the Savage Divide where you'll meet characters ready to guide you into your new Ghoul life. The process is straightforward, but weighing the pros and cons is essential before making this leap.

Pros of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

Turning into a Ghoul grants you access to exciting new abilities like Feral and Glow. The Feral meter starts at 100% and decreases over time, but you can boost it back up by using Chems. Here's what the Feral meter offers:

  • Above 80%: +3 Strength, +3 Endurance, +30 Max HP
  • Above 60%: +15 Max HP
  • Above 40%: -1 Endurance, -5 Max HP
  • Above 20%: -3 Endurance, -15 Max HP, -10 Max AP
  • At 0%: +150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy

The Glow ability enhances your maximum health and lets you heal from the damage you take. To activate it, embrace the unconventional by eating bad food and exploring irradiated areas.

Additionally, Ghouls can utilize a range of new Perk cards alongside the standard human ones, offering significant advantages. You also won't have to worry about diseases or the need for regular food while exploring.

Cons of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

However, becoming a Ghoul isn't without its challenges. Engaging in the "Leap of Faith" questline may sour your relations with certain factions, leading to complications in completing quests. As a Ghoul, you'll also suffer a Charisma penalty, making interactions less enjoyable.

Fortunately, *Fallout 76* offers solutions to these issues. A new NPC, Jaye Vo, part of the "Leap of Faith" questline, provides disguises that allow you to continue missions and avoid unnecessary conflicts.

Should You Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76?

Despite the drawbacks, the allure of becoming a Ghoul in *Fallout 76* is hard to resist. The unique abilities and perks make it an enticing choice. If you later decide to revert to your human form, you can do so from the Character screen, though you'll miss out on completing the "Leap of Faith" questline. However, you can transform back into a Ghoul after the questline for a cost of 1,000 Atoms.

Armed with this knowledge, it's time to venture into the Savage Divide and embrace your new Ghoul identity to unleash havoc in *Fallout 76*.

So, is becoming a Ghoul in *Fallout 76* worth it? Absolutely, if you're ready to explore the game from a thrilling new perspective. And if you're wondering whether *Fallout 76* is still worth playing, it continues to offer rich experiences for both new and veteran players.

*Fallout 76 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
