Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Mobile RPG Beta Test Announced
Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, has unveiled a new gameplay trailer and details about its closed beta test. Set during the show's fourth season, this action-adventure game promises engaging combat and a rich narrative.
The closed beta, scheduled for January 16-22, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions, offers fans an early look at the game before its full release later this year. Players can register via the official website.
Kingsroad features class-based progression with "fully manual" controls, allowing players to command characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and even Drogon. The game introduces an original story centered around a new character, the heir to House Tyrell in the North, adding to the existing Game of Thrones lore.
The recently released trailer showcases the game's impressive graphics and combat system, described by Netmarble as "raw, aggressive, and destructive." The developer, known for titles like Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, aims to deliver a compelling mobile experience with a strong narrative focus. The game's story draws inspiration from the books and HBO series, promising a deep dive into the Game of Thrones universe.
The game's timing is particularly noteworthy, providing a much-needed diversion for fans eagerly awaiting George R.R. Martin's The Winds of Winter. While the novel's release remains uncertain, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad offers a fresh, engaging experience within the franchise, alongside other upcoming projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3.
