The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a notable pricing distinction between Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming system will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, which will be offered globally. The Japanese version will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System will cost $449.99, marking a significant $100+ difference. This pricing strategy can be largely attributed to the current weakness of the yen against the US dollar, which impacts tourist purchasing behavior in Japan.
Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system will only be available within Japan and requires a Nintendo Account set to the Japanese region. This version will support only the Japanese language and will be limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For fans outside Japan or those who prefer gaming in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends the Multi-Language System version. More details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
