What's better than a cyberpunk action RPG? How about an action RPG on a motorcycle? It might not be that different, but it perfectly captures the essence of the upcoming release from Tencent's Fizzglee studio, Kaleidorider. This game is as odd, bright, colorful, and purely anime as you can imagine.
At first glance, you can deduce a few things about Kaleidorider. Set in the near-future city of Terminus, the game is plagued by interdimensional invaders known as the Integration from an alternate dimension called the Sea of Unconsciousness. The only force capable of stopping these invaders is the titular Kaleidoriders—an all-girl group focused on fighting these threats.
This motorcycle-riding group of girls can't do it alone, and they need the guidance of a human gifted with Kaleido Vision to find and battle the Hysteria creatures created by the Integration. That's where you, the player, come into play.
Kiss, kiss fall in loveIt's impossible to look at Kaleidorider without noticing its prominent anime influences. From the flashy clothing and self-described Doki-Doki (romance) plotline to the over-the-top action sequences, this game embodies a typical romance-action anime brought to life.
However, this isn't meant as a critique. The trailer showcases plenty of thrilling action, complemented by lavish 3D graphics and fancy effects. The integration of motorcycles as a core mechanic adds an intriguing twist. If kitschy action is your thing, Kaleidorider will almost certainly appeal to you.
