Keanu Reeves has shared an exciting update on the long-awaited sequel to the 2005 cult classic, Constantine. Playing the role of the occult detective and exorcist John Constantine, Reeves has been eager to bring a sequel to life for over two decades. Now, it seems that Constantine 2 is closer than ever to becoming a reality, with Reeves confirming a recent pitch meeting at DC Studios.
In a recent interview with Inverse, Reeves revealed, "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, 'Okay.' So, we're going to try and write a script." This marks a significant step forward for the project, though it's not without its uncertainties.

While this update is promising, there's no guarantee that the script for Constantine 2 will be greenlit by DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran. The project is not yet confirmed in the rebooted DCU, nor has it been mentioned by Gunn or Safran as a potential addition. Thus, the sequel remains on the edge of possibility.
Reeves teased that if Constantine 2 does get made, it will be set in "the same world" as the original film. He humorously added, "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more," hinting at the character's enduring challenges.
This follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who mentioned in September to ComicBook that a script for Constantine 2 was already in his inbox. He admitted being "too scared to read it" due to his high hopes for the project. Di Bonaventura said, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough. I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
