Star Wars Celebration has unveiled thrilling new details about the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to launch alongside the new movie. This update promises to bring exciting new elements to the ride, including the ability for Engineers to look after Grogu. Additionally, players will have the chance to explore the iconic planet Coruscant, alongside familiar locations like Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor, in a choose-your-own-adventure-style narrative.
Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this update will diverge from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie but will still feature both Din Djarin and Grogu prominently. The storyline revolves around Hondo Ohnaka discovering a lucrative deal on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates, sparking a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Players will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue the culprits and secure a bounty, offering a dynamic and expansive adventure.

While full details are yet to be disclosed, we know that Engineers will have a more significant role, as they will be responsible for caring for Grogu, adding a new layer of interaction and excitement to the experience.
In an interview with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, we gained further insight into what fans can anticipate. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. So, we love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."
Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama noted, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning-quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. And that's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."
