Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The first game drop of the year, dubbed "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update aims to enhance the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and alive. Players can expect new variants of familiar mobs such as cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside new ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the soothing whispers of sand.
The second game drop, while still unnamed, promises intriguing additions to the Minecraft universe. A new block, the Dried Ghast, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling—a baby ghast variant. The Ghastling, in turn, can evolve into the Happy Ghast. Players will be able to harness and ride the Happy Ghast, allowing up to four players to soar through the skies together. This feature also includes the new Locator Bar, which helps players find their friends while flying, making it a valuable tool for Survival Mode builders.
Mojang also introduced a significant visual upgrade titled 'Vibrant Visuals.' This upgrade aims to enhance the visual experience without altering gameplay mechanics. For more details on 'Vibrant Visuals,' check out IGN's dedicated article and their visuals comparison video.
In addition to game updates, Mojang shared a new clip for the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event, set to start on March 25, will take place in Midport Village. Players will join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience, defending the village from piglin attacks through three engaging mini-games. The event runs until April 7, and participants who complete all challenges will earn the exclusive Yearn cape.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we gained insights into their development philosophy. Mojang confirmed they have no plans to create a Minecraft 2, make the game free-to-play, or utilize generative AI in development.
