Monster Hunter Wilds' player base continues shrinking with MH World gradually closing the gap. Discover what's causing MH Wilds' declining engagement and details about the game's first collaboration.
Monster Hunter Wilds Experiences Significant Player Drop
From Peak of Over 1 Million to Current 40k

While Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) launched as Capcom's fastest-selling game this year, player retention has declined sharply three months post-release.
Monster Hunter enthusiast Zenny highlighted MH Wilds' concurrent player count has halved since May, approaching the numbers of its predecessor MH World. Current SteamDB data shows MH Wilds with a 24-hour peak of 41,101 players compared to MH World's 26,479.
Notably, MH World maintained over 100,000 concurrent players during its third month on Steam - more than doubling MH Wilds' current engagement. Many players cite limited endgame content in MH Wilds as the primary reason, despite Title Update 1's release. The upcoming Summer update introducing new monsters and events may help revive player interest.
Potential Street Fighter Collaboration Announced
A possible collaboration with Street Fighter could boost player numbers. Monster Hunter's official Twitter recently teased this crossover with artwork blending MH Wilds' paw print motif with Street Fighter 6's urban visual style.
The Monster Hunter series has a history of successful crossovers, including previous Street Fighter collaborations featuring armor sets based on Ryu and Sakura, special gestures, and Chun-Li costumes.

This would mark MH Wilds' first official collaboration, joining franchise classics like Devil May Cry (MH4), Animal Crossing (MH Gen U), and Assassin's Creed (MH World) crossovers.
With forthcoming updates and collaborations planned throughout 2024, MH Wilds may regain momentum among fans. The game remains available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
