Obtaining the Music Box
Similar to other cursed items, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its appearance is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to ensure its spawn. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up and activate it with another interaction.
Using the Music Box
Several strategies involve the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a tune. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will join in, revealing its location. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. The activated Box can be placed on the ground as a lure. The song ends automatically, and the Box closes. Note that holding the Box decreases your sanity.
Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate a cursed or standard hunt based on several factors:
- Throwing the active Box (not placing it down).
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the playing Box.
- The ghost approaching the Box for over five seconds.
- The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Box.
For optimal use, carry additional tools like Smudge Sticks to increase survival chances during a triggered hunt. This allows for ghost identification and objective completion.
