NieR: Automata's opening throws players into 2B's initial mission. After deploying your flight unit and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, you can quickly reacquire it once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This is the game's first readily accessible additional weapon, located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb and reach the main road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descend to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge where you fought the Goliath enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.
Your discarded body lies just beyond the sword to the right, allowing you to recover any remaining consumables from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata
- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, this sword excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies, albeit with a slower attack speed. Upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during their sequences. This won't allow for a full Virtuous Treaty combo, but it leverages its high damage output to compensate for its slower speed.
