Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Due to High Demand
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the general retail release of its popular Alarmo alarm clock in Japan. The delay, attributed to unexpectedly high demand exceeding current production capacity, impacts the previously scheduled February 2025 launch. A new release date has yet to be specified.
To address the shortage, Nintendo Japan will initially offer a pre-order system exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers within Japan. This pre-order period is slated to begin in mid-December, with shipments expected in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately. The impact on international availability, currently set for a March 2025 general release, remains unclear.
The Alarmo, launched globally in October, is an interactive alarm clock featuring iconic soundtracks from various Nintendo franchises, including Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure. Its initial success overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the cessation of online orders and a lottery system for remaining stock. Both online and physical stock quickly sold out in various locations, including Japan and the New York Nintendo store.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general release date will be provided.
