Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Leak: A Closer Look at the Next-Gen Controller
Recent online leaks suggest we're getting a clearer picture of the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers. While the current Switch still has a 2025 game release lineup, speculation about its successor is intensifying, especially with Nintendo's confirmed announcement slated for the end of their 2024 fiscal year. Rumors surrounding the Switch 2, including a potential March 2025 launch, are rampant, fueled by third-party developers and insiders sharing purportedly accurate images.
New images, surfacing on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit and subsequently across social media, offer what appears to be the most detailed view yet of the Switch 2's Joy-Cons. Shared by user SwordfishAgile3472, allegedly sourced from a Chinese social media platform, the photos showcase the back and side of a left Joy-Con. These images seemingly confirm the widely circulated rumor of magnetic connectors, replacing the traditional rail system with a magnetic connection.
Joy-Con Design Details:
The leaked images reveal a predominantly black Joy-Con with blue accents, reminiscent of the original Switch's color scheme, but with a different color distribution. The button layout is also partially visible, displaying noticeably larger "SL" and "SR" buttons, along with an additional, unlabeled button on the back. This third button is speculated to be a release mechanism for the magnetic Joy-Con connection.
The leaked Joy-Con design appears consistent with other circulating Switch 2 leaks and mockups. However, until Nintendo provides official confirmation, the details remain speculative. The leaked images, while compelling, should be viewed with a degree of caution.
