Nintendo's Latest Collaboration: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time producing a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release. This exciting news for fans of both brands has, however, sparked considerable online speculation regarding the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Many social media users have humorously suggested the LEGO Game Boy announcement is Nintendo's way of revealing their next console.
While details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor to the Switch would be announced within the current fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key as fans await further information.
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy has yet to be revealed, but Nintendo promises more details soon.
A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES and Game Boy LEGO sets, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring iconic characters from popular franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
A notable example is the May 2024 release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set depicting the Great Deku Tree from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. This impressive set, priced at $299.99 USD, includes Princess Zelda and the Master Sword.
Following closely in July 2024, a Super Mario World LEGO set debuted, showcasing a unique, crank-operated depiction of Mario riding Yoshi in pixel art form. This set is available for $129.99 USD.
