The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, offers an exciting look at the game's mechanics. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer features an intense battle against a giant boss crab, highlighting the game's unique blend of rhythm and roguelike action.

Ratatan combines the rhythm game genre with side-scrolling action, introducing online co-op gameplay that supports up to 4 players. The game promises a massive melee battle with the ability to control up to 100 characters simultaneously.

This eagerly awaited title is crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and features music by the original Patapon musician, Kemmei Adachi. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, Ratatan successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to a recent update on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared some exciting updates on the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

The game has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, Ratatan will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on refining the closed beta experience. They aim to deliver an enhanced demo version for the Steam Next Festival in June.

Sakajiri detailed what players can expect from the closed beta. The initial build will include gameplay up to Stage 1, with subsequent updates introducing Stages 2 and 3 over the course of the month-long test. Information regarding code distribution, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X once confirmed.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this innovative title.
