The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Is Here, And It's Super Thin

Author : Aaliyah Update:May 24,2025

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While it closely resembles the earlier 2025 model, the Galaxy S25, the new Edge variant boasts a significantly thinner design that truly sets it apart.

When comparing the specs, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is nearly identical to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both models feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The key difference lies in the chassis; the S25 Edge is remarkably slimmer at just 5.8mm thick, compared to the 8.2mm of the S25 Ultra. This slimmer design also makes it lighter, tipping the scales at only 163g.

Despite its larger size, the S25 Edge shares the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display of the S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and expansive design, durability becomes a critical factor. Samsung addresses this concern by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. A major concern for users will be whether the phone can withstand the pressure of being sat on in a pocket, potentially sparking another "bendgate" controversy.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also inherits the suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 and further developed in 2025. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, these tools enable significant local AI processing, enhancing user privacy. However, some AI applications will still rely on cloud services. Samsung's innovative features include quick summaries of notifications and news articles, enhancing user convenience.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with prices starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB version. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is confident that this sleek and durable design will impress users; let's hope their claims hold up in real-world usage.
