Get ready, fans of The Last of Us, because HBO has officially announced that Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT, and you'll be able to stream it on Max. Mark your calendars for a gripping seven-episode journey. To ramp up the excitement, HBO has released stunning new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and the newcomer Abby.

Set five years after the harrowing events of the first season, The Last of Us Season 2 will dive back into the lives of Joel and Ellie, now living with Joel's brother Tommy in a commune in Montana. This season promises to adapt the narrative from the second game in the series, The Last of Us Part 2, which means fans of the game can anticipate a thrilling continuation of their story.

Joining Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel, and Bella Ramsey, reprising her role as Ellie, are some fresh faces. Kaitlyn Dever steps into the role of Abby, with Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle will also star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, captivating audiences and critics alike. Crafted by the talented duo of Craig Mazin, known for Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, the series scooped up numerous Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and was honored with nominations across five Primetime Emmy categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.

The overwhelming success of Season 1 has HBO brimming with enthusiasm for more. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted that the series might extend over a total of four seasons, suggesting that Season 2 will not cover the entire storyline of The Last of Us Part 2.
