Embark on the "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Stalker 2's open world, The Zone, is teeming with NPCs, some leading to minor quests, others to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission begins with a rendezvous between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, completing it grants access to the STC Malachite facility via a Malachite pass.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest

Locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear Mongoose radio Skif, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, go left, past the conveyor belts, and climb the rusty stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; vault the railing to reach him. He'll explain the need to activate a second device and initiating the quest upon accepting his request.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit Mongoose's room and ascend to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder leading to the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the measuring device.

Dealing with the Bloodsuckers

Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Mongoose will explain the experiment's unintended consequences. You can choose to kill him or accept his reward. Either choice has no significant impact on the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass; choosing the non-hostile option provides the pass and coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
