Star Wars: New Character Debuts in Jedi Power Battles

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay. This isn't the only addition; Aspyr has unveiled nine other new playable characters, with more to come.

The 2000 original, Jedi Power Battles, already boasted a diverse roster, but Jar Jar's inclusion is a significant curveball. This updated version aims to capitalize on nostalgia while adding fresh content. Along with customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, the expanded character selection is a key highlight.

The trailer reveals Jar Jar's gameplay, showcasing his characteristic chaotic style and voice lines. While some may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber, he instead utilizes a staff. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch; pre-orders are open.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the roster is evident, with a total of ten new characters revealed so far, and more promised. This variety includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The Gungan Guard's inclusion precedes Jar Jar's announcement, highlighting the breadth of new additions.

With the release just weeks away, fans can soon experience these additions firsthand. Aspyr's past successes, such as the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter re-release, offer hope that Jedi Power Battles will satisfy fans' expectations for a nostalgic yet enhanced gaming experience.
