Stellar Blade Sequel Officially Confirmed by Developer Shift Up

Stellar Blade Sequel Officially Announced

Developer Shift Up has officially confirmed plans for a full sequel to Stellar Blade following the successful launch of their PlayStation-exclusive action title earlier this year.

The original game, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, debuted in April 2024 to widespread acclaim for its unique blend of gameplay elements reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The Korean studio made the sequel announcement through financial documents released today, featuring a roadmap chart that outlines their development pipeline through 2027.

Future Projects Revealed

Shift Up's presentation materials reveal ambitious expansion plans for their flagship franchise while simultaneously developing new IP.

The roadmap indicates Stellar Blade will first undergo a "platform expansion" – likely referencing the confirmed PC version launching June 11, 2025 – before receiving its proper sequel.

The studio also teased Project Witches, a mysterious multiplatform action RPG scheduled for release within this same development window.

Initial Success With Room For Growth

The original Stellar Blade garnered praise for its visually stunning environments and tight combat mechanics while facing some criticism around narrative depth and repetitive mission design.

Our review highlighted how the game's Sekiro-inspired swordplay and grotesque enemy designs helped overcome weaker elements like uninspired side quests and lightweight storytelling.

With PC players soon able to experience Eve's adventure and a full sequel officially underway, Shift Up appears committed to evolving their budding action franchise.
