Suicide Squad Co-Developer Rocksteady Hit By Layoffs

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.

The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain Suicide Squad amidst poor reception and significant financial losses (approximately $200 million, according to Warner Bros.). No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Warner Bros. Games Montreal also experienced layoffs (99 employees) in December.

The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a significant story spoiler. Negative reviews from major gaming publications and a massive 791% surge in refund requests (per McLuck analytics) followed.

Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
