Neutronized's latest platformer, Shadow Trick, is a charming, bite-sized adventure. This free-to-play title follows the publisher's established pattern of creating short, fun, and visually appealing games, similar to their previous successes like Shovel Pirate, Slime Labs 3, Super Cat Tales, and Yokai Dungeon: Monster Games.
Shadow Trick Gameplay:
As the title suggests, you play as a wizard capable of transforming into a shadow. This core mechanic is cleverly used to solve puzzles, navigate treacherous environments, and evade enemies. The gameplay involves strategically switching between your physical and shadow forms to uncover secrets and overcome obstacles.
The game unfolds within a magical castle, featuring 24 levels brimming with diverse biomes, hidden dangers, and challenging bosses. Each level contains three elusive moon crystals, essential for unlocking the complete game ending. Mastering the game requires skill and precision, as achieving a perfect run (no damage taken) against the bosses is necessary to collect all 72 crystals. Expect some frustrating encounters; the red ghost, for instance, can seemingly vanish and reappear unexpectedly.
The environments are impressively varied, ranging from standard platforming sections to aquatic levels where shadow manipulation is key to survival. Unique and quirky boss battles, including aquatic encounters, add to the game's charm.
