Another week brings more excitement and shifts in the Pokémon single card market as trainers eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals. Fortunately, the preorders for Black Bolt and White Flare at the Pokémon Center managed to dodge a bot takeover this time.
The most significant price drop this week was for Greninja ex 214/167, which plummeted nearly 50% since the start of the year. We're also witnessing price reductions across the Obsidian Flames and the elusive 151 expansions. On the flip side, Dragonite V from Evolving Skies has nearly doubled in value, and its stunning artwork has always made it an undervalued gem.
Charizard V Alt Art continues to impress with its dynamic depiction of a battle against Venusaur, gradually increasing in value. Meanwhile, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art is soaring, gaining an additional $100 in value since the beginning of the year. Let's dive deeper into the notable climbers and crashers in the Pokémon TCG market this week.
Pokémon Card Crashes
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyWhile Sword and Shield era cards are finally seeing a noticeable uptick, Scarlet and Violet series cards are returning to more realistic price points.
Alakazam ex SIR from the 151 set is a stunning card, now 34% cheaper than at the beginning of March. It's a perfect addition to any binder this year, especially with its connection to Uri Geller's grandfather.
Bulbasaur, my first starter Pokémon from Pokémon Blue, holds a special place in my heart. The Bulbasaur IR has seen a massive 52% drop since mid-March, making it an affordable and beautiful card to add to your collection.
Moving on to Obsidian Flames, Ninetales IR has always been one of the set's highlights. With a 40% price drop since February, it's now a reasonable $18.17, making it a great time to add this card to your collection.

The biggest crasher this month is Greninja ex SIR, which once seemed poised to be the most expensive card of the Scarlet and Violet era. However, the arrival of Prismatic Evolutions escalated the FOMO. Despite its significant drop, it remains a classy card at $275, a far cry from its $411.62 price at the end of February.
Pokémon Card Climbers
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyTurning to this week's climbers, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art stands out as a coveted card from the Sword and Shield era. Already valued at over $500, it's now at $649.99 and shows no signs of slowing down. With potential to reach $1,000 in a few years, it's a card worth considering if you can afford it.
Charizard V Alt Art captures the essence of a Kanto battle with its dynamic depiction against Venusaur. Its unique angle and sense of motion set it apart from many static Pokémon cards. Having gained $40 since January, it's on track to surpass $200 before the year ends.
