Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly with Version 2.0. Initially, elements provided character buffs and enemy resistances, but lacked deep interaction. Version 2.0 introduces Elemental Effects, allowing for more direct interactions beyond passive buffs.
Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs:
While some elemental effects existed previously (e.g., Glacio's freeze), Version 2.0 expands this mechanic. Each element now has a unique status effect:
| Elemental Effect | Effect Description |

| Havoc Bane | Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters. |
| Glacio Chafe | Reduces movement speed per stack, freezing at 10 stacks. Players can "Struggle" to shorten freeze duration. |
| Spectro Frazzle | Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG over time. More stacks = more DMG. |
| Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10, exploding at max stacks for significant Fusion DMG. |
| Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically; stacks don't deplete to deal damage. More stacks = more DMG over time. |
| Electro Flare | Reduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 (-5%), 5-9 (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 (-10%). |
Dodging removes all effect stacks.
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets:
Currently, Elemental Effect utilization is limited. Few Resonators, Echoes, or Echo Sets interact with them:
Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:
- Spectro Rover: Post-Version 2.0 rework, Spectro Rover uniquely applies Spectro Frazzle (2 stacks) via Resonating Spin, also applying a Shimmer effect preventing stack decay. This sustains Spectro Frazzle for Echo benefits.
Echoes and Echo Sets:
Only one Echo set currently benefits from Elemental Effects (primarily for Spectro Rover):
- Eternal Radiance (Echo Set): 2-piece bonus: +10% Spectro DMG. 5-piece bonus: Spectro Frazzle inflicts Crit Rate increase (20% for 15s); 10 stacks grant a 15% Spectro DMG bonus (15s).
- Nightmare (Echo): Increases Spectro DMG against enemies with Spectro Frazzle by 100%. Provides a 12% Spectro DMG bonus to the equipped Resonator.
In summary, while Elemental Effects are a nascent mechanic in Wuthering Waves, their integration is expanding, with Spectro Rover currently showcasing their potential. Future updates may see wider implementation and synergy.
