Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana masterfully introduces players to its challenging bosses, teaching them to master the game's mechanics as they progress. While the game may not be as lengthy as other RPGs, it compensates with a robust lineup of bosses that test your skills and strategy.
Although new players might need some initial guidance, facing Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and the game’s mechanics.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After triumphing over Guilen, The Fire Eater, players will journey deeper into the Zone of Lava to confront the formidable Gyalva. To simplify this battle, position yourself at one of the bridge's ends.
The fight restricts your movement significantly, as the bridge's platforms are constantly disrupted by Gyalva. Your strategy should involve quick jumps to reach Gyalva and utilizing wind magic to maximize damage in minimal time.
Ys remains a pinnacle of Nihon Falcom’s offerings, and conquering its bosses, like Gyalva, delivers a profoundly rewarding experience.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
As a fresh addition to the Ys saga in this remake of Ys 3, Gyalva brings a unique challenge. Despite the straightforward combat mechanics, Gyalva's array of attacks can quickly drain your health if you're not prepared. It flies around the bridge, dislodging sections with fiery assaults.
Before tackling Gyalva, ensure Adol is well-equipped and consider reaching at least Level 21. Clearing out smaller enemies throughout the game will help you level up without excessive grinding.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva's spinning attacks come in two forms. The first sweeps over a section of the bridge, flipping the affected plates into the air. The second involves a straight-line flyover, causing the entire bridge's plates to spin. Both can be devastating, especially if underleveled.
To evade the first, dash to the sides of the affected zone. For the second, seek safety at either end of the bridge's ledges. Staying near one side allows for quick escapes to the edges. Avoid lingering at the bridge's very end to prevent getting cornered; instead, maneuver around to attack Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches a fireball onto the bridge, lifting the plates. While damaging upon impact, this move opens a window for multiple strikes against Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
The bridge's torches sporadically erupt in flames, with fireballs passing between them. These bursts can harm you, but once they subside, it's safe to navigate through. Anticipating these bursts can be challenging, but understanding their patterns is key to safely moving and attacking.
