Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering a deeply personal gaming experience.
A Game Forged From Your Memories
The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), provided a glimpse into Proxi's core mechanics. Players input their personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable, allowing players to refine the visual representation of their recollections using in-game assets.
Each added memory ("mem") enhances the game's AI and populates the player's "mind world," a navigable 3D environment. As the mind world expands, so does the presence of Proxies—digital representations of friends and family—creating a rich, interconnected narrative space. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, reflecting the context and individuals involved. Intriguingly, Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal connection with players' memories, bringing them to life in a magical way. He jokingly acknowledged the inherent self-focus in gaming, stating that tailoring the experience to the player's life is key to its success.
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
