Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord located in Oakheart Highcourt within the Rinascita region. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.
Finding the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. Access is initially limited. A readily available entrance lies southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to bypass the maze.
The Lifer's Board Game
Inside, players encounter a six-piece board game. The goal is to connect three pieces before the Lifer does. Players control black, the Lifer white. Crucially, the board game manipulates Oakheart Highcourt's maze walls. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls/gates in that direction. The game can be exited and resumed, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is vital for buff removal. Winning before buff removal is ill-advised, as the Lifer immediately attacks.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs, four removable using the Stake of Imbalance. Buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
- Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
- Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance (stacks to 4); stacks reset after 6 seconds without DMG.
- Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types; 25% Max HP increase.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP in a single hit.
Stake of Imbalance Acquisition
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). Some rooms require Tacet Discord defeats or Friable Rock destruction.
Place each Stake of Imbalance in the module before its corresponding statue to remove a buff. The purple line turns yellow upon successful buff removal.
Defeating the Lifer
After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.
First victory rewards a Premium Supply Chest. Second: another Premium and three Basic Supply Chests. Third: an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a harder fight, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (all nine chests).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating lines. It will eventually make mistakes.
