Remedy Entertainment's annual report brings exciting updates on their upcoming projects. Control 2 has triumphantly passed the concept validation stage and is now in full production, marking a crucial milestone in its development journey. This progress indicates the studio's commitment to bringing this highly anticipated sequel to life.
Alongside Control 2, two other thrilling projects are making significant strides. FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 have advanced from the preparation phase to active development. Just a year ago, these titles were still in the planning stages, but now they're on the fast track to completion. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been dropped from Remedy's lineup. It was canceled in May of last year.
All of these exciting projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight. This engine has already demonstrated its prowess in games like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy titles, ensuring high-quality gameplay and stunning visuals.
In terms of financials, Control 2 is set to have a budget of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and will be available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. Meanwhile, FBC: Firebreak boasts a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This title will be accessible on PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
As for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2, details on the budget remain under wraps. However, it's clear that these will be AAA-level games. The development and marketing costs are fully covered by Rockstar Games, ensuring a robust launch.
