Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. A recent announcement on the game's German Twitter (X) account highlighted performance enhancements, particularly in the PS5's Prioritize Framerate mode, which boosts fps at the cost of some graphical detail. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, with a focus on lowering the recommended GPU requirements.
Currently, the minimum PC GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Capcom aims to make the game playable on lower-end hardware, expanding accessibility. A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess system compatibility.
The first open beta test in October and November 2024 revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and fps drops, even on high-end PCs. Capcom acknowledged these problems, stating that improvements have been made since the beta, including a fix for afterimage noise in Frame Generation mode.
A second open beta test, scheduled for February 7-10 and 14-17, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, will feature Gypceros and a new monster. Whether the recent performance updates will be included in this beta remains to be seen. The improved performance and potentially lowered GPU requirements should alleviate concerns about the game's accessibility and overall playability.
