This week, the team behind InZOI is taking a well-deserved break to celebrate the New Year, observing a three-day holiday in South Korea. Before stepping away, Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim, the project lead, shared some exciting updates on the game's development, particularly focusing on features that the community has been eagerly requesting.
One of the most anticipated features is the use of real facial capture technology, which will allow players to create highly personalized templates for crafting their zois. This feature, already highlighted in summer announcements, is set to simplify the process even further, as emphasized by Kjun. Another much-requested addition is the inclusion of pets in the game. While this feature won't be available during the early access phase, fans can look forward to it in future updates. Kjun, a self-proclaimed animal lover, is particularly excited about this addition.
In terms of the game environment, InZOI will feature tall buildings, though they will be capped at 30 floors. This decision was made to address potential performance issues, despite the game engine's capability to support higher constructions. Players can also expect to see gas stations within the game world, adding to the immersive experience.
Combat mechanics have been a focal point of community feedback. Initially, the slap mechanic felt too simplistic to players. Responding to this, Kjun and his team have revamped the combat system to include full-fledged fights with clear winners and losers, promising a more engaging experience.
Recognizing that InZOI may attract many newcomers to the genre, the developers are including a comprehensive tutorial to help ease players into the game. This thoughtful approach is commendable and should help enhance the overall player experience.
As it stands, Krafton is still on track to release InZOI in early access at the end of March, with no further delays anticipated. Fans can look forward to these new features and improvements as the game continues to evolve.
