Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System Flexibility

Author : Emery Update:May 05,2025

Gacha mechanics are a pivotal aspect of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo, now known as HoYoverse, is set to enhance player control over character pulls. Leaks from Sakura Haven indicate a transformative update to the banner system in version 3.2, promising a new way for players to engage with the game's gacha mechanics.

The anticipated 3.2 update will feature a customizable pity system for limited banners. This system will allow players to choose their preferred characters from a specific set, which can then partially or fully replace the default character pool. This change will empower players to have greater influence over their rewards, moving away from the standard 50/50 pity pull system.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. With the 3.2 update, this will evolve into a 'Group' from which players can select 7 characters to form their personalized pity pool. If a player loses a 50/50 roll, they will receive a character from their customized pool rather than from the default set.

The 'Group' will initially consist of the 7 standard characters, along with a limited selection of additional characters for players to choose from.

This update is poised to significantly improve the player experience by minimizing frustration and enhancing flexibility. By allowing players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo is tackling one of the most frequent issues with gacha systems—the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. This feature will enable players to prioritize characters that align with their playstyle or preferences, increasing their satisfaction and engagement with the game.

However, the specifics of which characters will be available in the selectable pool are still under wraps. It's not yet clear whether the pool will include past limited characters, current banner units, or entirely new additions.

These proposed changes demonstrate miHoYo's commitment to refining Honkai Star Rail and making it more player-friendly. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the value of player choice in gacha games, potentially setting a new benchmark for similar systems in other titles.

Although the full implementation and effects of this feature are yet to be revealed, the announcement has already generated excitement within the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will enhance their gameplay experience upon the release of Honkai Star Rail 3.2.
