Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated their goal is to be "the European equivalent of that iconic studio."
Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this influence shaped Quantum Break and subsequently, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their aspiration to become the European Naughty Dog.
This inspiration is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and gripping narrative. The game's success firmly established Remedy as a top European developer.
Their aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and The Last of Us (the latter a record-breaking award-winning franchise), serves as a clear benchmark.
Over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines the strengths of the Performance and Quality modes.
These updates also refined Alan Wake 2's graphic settings for smoother framerates and reduced visual noise. In addition to the PS5 Pro enhancements, several minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion, have been addressed.
