Josef Fares, the visionary behind Hazelight Studios, recently shared exciting details about their upcoming title, Split Fiction, during an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares underscored Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-first approach, firmly rejecting live-service models and microtransactions. The studio also intends to remain independent, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by a larger company. Fares stated emphatically, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at approximately 12-14 hours, mirroring the playtime of their critically acclaimed It Takes Two. However, with optional missions and extra content, players can anticipate a total playtime extending to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is renowned for its innovative co-op experiences, Fares hinted at the possibility of venturing into single-player game development in the future. He also disclosed that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has opted against post-launch DLC, ensuring all content is available from the game's release. Split Fiction launches worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
