The eagerly awaited single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, has been delayed by three months, shifting its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025, as announced by its developer, Ultizero Games. Initially slated for launch next month after roughly a decade in development, the game's release was pushed back to ensure a polished final product.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. It is now a major Sony-published title under the company's China Hero Project, with Bing at the helm as the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio, Ultizero Games.
In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing discussed the long journey to the game's launch. The game's development escalated from a solo vision to a highly anticipated title, highlighted by its reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast. The excitement around Lost Soul Aside has been palpable, often described as an intriguing blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, a buzz that started when Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
The game features the protagonist Kesar, who wields a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in battles. Drawing inspiration from its predecessors, Lost Soul Aside focuses on aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, all set within large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative weaves a sci-fi premise with modern aesthetics, taking players across multiple dimensions. While the story's direction remains somewhat mysterious from the trailers, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
